SVPR 2024 Policy Review

We want your feedback on our policy

Every three years, TRU engages in a policy review for Policy BRD-25-0 (Sexualized Violence). Over the next several weeks, we are inviting folks from the TRU and Kamloops community to give us their thoughts.

What policy are we reviewing?

In May 2016, the provincial legislature passed the BC Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy Act. This act required all public post-secondary institutions in BC to establish and implement a sexual misconduct policy by May 2017. Every policy should speak to what supports are available to victims/survivors, the university’s commitments to education and prevention work, and formal reporting and investigation procedures. BRD-25-0 (Sexualized Violence Policy) is the policy TRU created to meet this provincial requirement.

You don’t need to be a policy expert to participate. Here are some valuable resources to get you started:

How to provide feedback

There are two options: You can attend one of the virtual consultations or you can fill out this online form. You can submit the online form anonymously. You are also welcome to do both options.

Where does my feedback go and what happens after that?

Feedback will be received by Cassie Greenough, Director of Student Affairs. A team of dedicated TRU community members will review all the feedback submissions and identify collective themes. Collective themes will be addressed and drafted into the policy where possible.

Any changes to the policy will be proposed to the Board of Governors later in the spring. Anyone on campus is welcome to attend the Board of Governors meeting. The meeting date and time of the board meeting will be posted on this page as they come available.
