In addition to a bachelor's from TRU (2005) and a Master of Social Work from the University of Victoria (2016), Amber also received formal training through Interior Community Services’ Safe Spaces program and the Ending Violence Association of BC. She has also participated in education endeavours related to narrative therapy, trauma-informed care, nature-based therapy, maternal mental health and maternal substance use, and support for exiting sex work.

Employed in the anti-violence sector since 2004, Amber has engaged with folks experiencing homelessness, individuals dealing with mental health and substance use and 2SLGBTQ2IA+ community members who have experienced harm.

Amber has also held contracts with Ending Violence Association of BC, and Kamloops’ Violence Against Women Intervention and Support Services to develop specialized training and programming for anti-violence workers.

Amber knows that reaching out for support is one of the bravest, most terrifying acts a victim/survivor may take, and recognizes the importance of providing a respectful, informed, caring response.

Amber enjoys spending time with her partner and two children, hiking, paddling, reading, watching Netflix and eating pizza.

Chelsea (she/her) enrolled at TRU in 2006 and graduated from the BSW program in 2012. From 2013 to 2024, she worked in the Violence Against Women Intervention and Support Services program in Kamloops at YMCA BC. During that time, Chelsea was an anti-violence crisis worker, a Stopping the Violence outreach worker and a case coordinator on the leadership team.

Through hearing people's stories, offering emotional support, and helping navigate systems, she cultivated her passion for and commitment to anti-violence work and intersectional feminism.

Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys a fun road trip, finding a place by the water, spending time with friends and family, and carving out some alone time for reading or watching Netflix.

I’m originally from Quito, Ecuador, and I’m currently in my fourth year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program at TRU, majoring in marketing. I’ve worked in various student leadership roles, including as a resident advisor and peer mentor, where I fostered student well-being and helped build inclusive, respectful communities.

As an SVPR ambassador, I want to connect with my peers and contribute to efforts to make campus a place where everyone feels safe, heard and supported.

Fun fact: I’m fluent in both English and Spanish. I’ve had the unique experience of studying in two different countries — Canada and the United States!

I was born in Prince George, B.C. and moved to Kamloops with my family in 2014. I am a fifth-year psychology student, and I’ve been working in the disability and mental health sector since 2022. I am excited to shake things up as an ambassador at SVPR!

I’m most excited about connecting with my peers and helping raise awareness around male survivors of sexual violence, support resources available for students and promoting healthy boundary-setting in relationships.

Fun fact: When not on campus, you can usually find me hiking with my dog, Toadflax!
