Innovation for Social Good

The Innovation for Social Good (ISG) research cluster brings together faculty and students from a range of disciplines to create new knowledge about innovation that improves lives, organizations and communities. ISG promotes TRU’s strategic change goal of leading in community research and scholarship by engaging business, economics and other researchers in community-centred knowledge seeking, knowledge creating and creative inquiry, focused on social and environmental good.

The ISG cluster is currently working on four major externally funded projects:

  • a four-year study of Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE) programs funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC);
  • a three-year study of social entrepreneurship training for persons with disabilities, funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Canada (SSHRC);
  • a two-year study of social enterprise leadership and human resource management, also funded by SSHRC.
  • a 20-month study of extended-length WISE programs in Kamloops, funded by Mitacs, North Shore Business Improvement Association, and ETSI-BC.
