Academic Integrity

Welcome to the Academic Integrity Hub!

Thompson Rivers University is dedicated to supporting academic integrity. As you explore this website, you will find resources, guidelines, and support systems that aim to foster academic integrity within our institution. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these resources, engage in open discussions, and play an active role in upholding the values of academic integrity.

We want to uphold a culture of learning and excellence, where achievements are based on merit and integrity. This promotes an environment where students develop essential skills, critical thinking abilities, and a strong ethical framework that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

Academic Integrity Committee (AIC)

The Academic Integrity Committee (AIC) is a vital component in academic integrity. The AIC is composed of faculty members and student representatives, and their primary responsibility is adjudicating cases.

The AIC handles a wide range of cases related to academic dishonesty. These cases can include plagiarism, cheating, unauthorized collaboration, falsification of data, and forms of academic misconduct. The committee investigates each case with fairness and due process for all parties involved.

Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs plays a crucial role in supporting the AIC. The Director of Student Affairs and the Learning Strategist for Academic Integrity work together to provide guidance and resources to students, staff, and faculty to assist in resolving academic integrity cases.

Student Affairs professionals serve as advocates that offer support and guidance to students. The Learning Strategist assists students throughout the case process and helps them understand their rights and responsibilities.

The Academic Integrity Committee (AIC) believes in upholding strong academic integrity principles and supports core values such as honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage (ICAI, 2023).
