Campus Operations

TRU Financial Assistance

TRU offers a comprehensive range of programs to both assist students in financing their educational and living costs and to recognize academic excellence.

TRU's Guaranteed Tuition Model

TRU was the first post-secondary institution in British Columbia to implement a guaranteed tuition model for international students. The program locks tuition rates for the intended duration of a student's program, plus one additional year.

Emergency funding

Emergency funding is available year-round to eligible currently enrolled students experiencing a financial hardship.

Funding for former youth in care

TRU supports current and former youth in care through the BC Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and the Learning for Future Grant, which help cover tuition, fees and education-related expenses such as textbooks, supplies and technology.

Adult Upgrading Grant

The Adult Upgrading Grant supports eligible BC residents returning to education by helping cover costs associated with basic education and upgrading courses, including tuition and textbooks.

UPASS

The TRUSU UPASS gives every TRU student unlimited transit within Kamloops each semester, helping students get to classes, work and beyond at low cost to their wallet and the environment. It also provides students with a 50 per cent discount to a monthly membership to the Tournament Capital Centre and free access to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

Career development

Career and Experiential Learning provides opportunities for TRU students and alumni to explore their career potential through real-world experiences, providing education to enhance personal and professional skills for career success.

TRU Generator

TRU Generator helps students, alumni, faculty and staff turn ideas into ventures by providing mentorship, entrepreneurial training, educational workshops, networking opportunities and support in identifying funding and grant opportunities.

Community Partnerships and Outreach

Community Legal Clinic

The Thompson Rivers University Community Legal Clinic is the first student-staffed free legal clinic in the BC Interior.

Research and Innovation

In the Shadow of the Hills: Socioeconomic Struggles in Kamloops

This open education resource, authored by TRU professor Peter Tsigaris and students, critically examines Kamloops' socioeconomic challenges. Each chapter explores a community-relevant issue, such as housing, healthcare and transit. The book offers insights that foster public dialogue and expand access to local research.
